In case you missed it: Plato and Neal’s race 1 collision

After a long summer break, it took ONE corner for the two big rivals to come to blows. So here is the moment when championship leader Matt Neal was ‘helped’ into a spin at the start of race one at Snetterton, for which Plato was fined:

Matt had made what he described as one of his best starts for a long time to challenge Plato for the lead around the outside at the first corner, but was tapped by the Chevrolet into a spin across the track where he was lucky not to be hit by anyone else.

The stewards deemed the eventual race one winner Plato was indeed responsible for the incident, and endorsed his racing licence by three points and handed him a fine of £500.

This was the start of a tough day for Neal, who dropped from first to third in the championship despite a great drive from the back to fourth in the final race of the day.

Championship standings after round 6:

01 Mat Jackson 158
02 Gordon Shedden 150
03 Matt Neal 148
04 Jason Plato 138
05 James Nash 127
06 Andrew Jordan 113
07 Alex MacDowall 73
08 Robert Collard 67
09 Tom Chilton 66
10 Paul O’Neill 54

Paul “The Robot” O’Neill back on the rostrum

It was also the day that Paul O’Neill made it back onto the podium, and the plucky fans favourite came into the pit lane after the race to be greeted with a rapturous welcome by the teams.

Apart from distracting poor Mat Jackson who was in the middle of his first interview as the new championship leader, it gave Paul his chance to give the fans his attempt at ‘The Robot’ dance when he got out of his Techspeed Chevy Cruze (0.30s below), instantly making footballers like Peter Crouch seem even more worthless. Enjoy!
