OFFICIAL: AMD Milltek split with Tom Onlsow-ColePosted: June 5, 2011
It has been confirmed that the AMD Milltek team has announced a spilt with their driver Tom Onslow-Cole with immediate effect on amicable terms following an agreement.
The New Malden driver’s Volkswagen was missing from the grid before the final race of the day, and it has been announced that Onslow-Cole informed team principle Shaun Hollamby 15 minutes before the race that he was leaving the team to join another squad, which remains unnamed.
Onslow-Cole had scored the team’s best result in their second year of racing in the British Touring Car Championship with a seventh place in Donington, scoring nine points over the first four rounds of the season.
The team are now set to evaluate the possible replacement and reserve drivers to take over the seat and continue the independant team’s season, with a likely replacement could be Jake Hill, announced as a reserve driver for the Volkswagen squad, but with question marks due to his competition in the Ginetta GT Supercup.
Therefore the team’s parcipation in the fifth round of the series at Croft is uncertain, but the team are looking to make sure they appear on the grid.
