Junior double for Morris at BrandsPosted: April 3, 2011
Moving into his second year in the championship, Morris was locked in a battle all weekend with Jake Giddings for the spoils, and won the first encounter which was red-flagged after a crazy first lap.
The first corner saw a heavy accident for Myles Collins who was put into the barrier on the run up to paddock Hill bend in an accident with Struan Moore that littered the track with bits of Collins’ Ginetta, and caused the race to be stopped.
The carnage didn’t stop there however as leader Jake Giddings had a comedy moment when he spun out coming out of Graham Hill bend under safety car conditions, narrowly missing the wall.
Giddings got the jump at the restarted race and became locked in a classic Ginetta battle with Morris for the win. Morris found a gap on the exit of Surtees to make a move up the inside, but Giddings was quick to snatch the place back again.
Morris soon found his way past at Clearways to take the victory ahead of Giddings and Tom Howard, while Brad Bailey was also in amongst the battle at the front until he got taken out in the closing stages.
Giddings was the big loser in a panel-bashing second race as the race drew to a close, which was again won by Morris.
